The word “Advocacy” means several things.  In the case of TVRA, it means:

  • Educate – Inform members of state, local & community projects and initiatives that will benefit or possibly negatively impact their wellbeing. TVRA will share this information through our monthly newsletter, and/or by including guest speakers, who are subject matter experts on topics of interest, in our monthly socials and quarterly Open Village Meeting agendas.
  • Promote – Bring forward to appropriate leaders, constructive recommendations that address residents’ concerns through appropriate avenues, meetings with community leaders, and/or educating residents how to address concerns themselves.
  • Communicate – Share information that we’ve learned and encourage participation in discussions in a timely manner that’ll will foster residents’ engagement in important discussions and decisions.

It’s important to keep in mind that our Board, like our residents, have varying opinions and therefore, it may not always be practical for TVRA to take up one side or another.  When this happens, we will focus on providing information to members so that they can make an informed decision of their own.

Additional information regarding our approach to Advocacy can be found in the TVRA Advocacy Policy, which can be found by following this link: TVRA Bylaws and opening the Dropbox folder containing the Advocacy policy.
