by Kay Condon, Communications VP

In 2023, almost one million Americans aged 60 and older chose to move into retirement communities — showing that many people are exploring retirement community living even before they fully retire. Then in 2024, another 258,000 Americans made the move specifically to retire, highlighting a growing interest in these communities. More and more people are seeing retirement communities as great places to enjoy a vibrant lifestyle, connect with others, and plan for their next chapter – But what do you do if you are still working and all the fun stuff takes place during working hours?

With many now in their late 40s to early 60s, the Gen-X generation is approaching what could be the final stretch of their working years, but the financial reality can be complicated, given the rise in inflation, costs of private health insurance (prior to qualifying for Medicare) and caught between caring for aging parents at the same time as their dependent children. Even so, Tellico Village is seeing an influx of Gen-Xers relocating here in recent years, many of whom are still working and missing out on the fun stuff Tellico Village has to offer. Generation X is those born between 1965 and 1980.

The TVRA EVENTS TEAM recognizes that the Tellico Village Gen-X population is growing and is aware of the frustrations that so many in this category are having trying to plug-in and develop lasting friendships while still working. If you find yourself in the same situation, join our new Gen-X Social Group and explore the ways you can help build a great foundation and enjoy your new life here in Tellico Village to its fullest!

Join in the fun of brainstorming how Gen-Xers can find each other, enjoy each other’s company, leverage existing TVRA events, enjoy TV amenities, and host its own activities! Please plan to attend one of 2 upcoming organizational meetings to be held at the
