Last summer a study was done to see if there was a need for a traffic control light at the intersection of Highway 411 and Niles Ferry Rd. The HOA/POA TDOT Liaison Committee contacted TDOT and asked them to do a traffic survey to determine if that intersection meets the TDOT criteria for a traffic control light.
TDOT conducted their study in early October and determined that a traffic control light is not warranted at this time but they do recommend adding signs along Highway 411 warning of traffic entering or crossing the highway at Niles Ferry Rd. In addition they recommend that two right turn lanes be added, one from Highway 411 to Niles Ferry Rd and one from Niles Ferry Rd to Highway 411. The addition of these turn lanes is dependent on funding. The Department will continue to monitor the intersection.
